Fleet Foxes-He Doesn't Know Why

I've seen Fleet Foxes all over the Internet for the past 6 months, but I never really gave them a shot. About two weeks ago a special friend sent me a copy of some of their material. I gave it a listen, but it didn't really satisfy my needs with music. Later in the week, I had a friend come up and visit and coincidentally, Fleet Foxes were on constant repeat in his car. I have to say that they they're slowly growing on me...

Friendship Surgery...robbed

This past week has been a big disappointment for the dorm. Sonoma State has an event called the Campus Movie Fest every year were they hand out cameras and macs for a week to make a five minute film. Last year we took best comedy with the epic "The Day I Decided to Become a Robot and Kill Everyone" video...

Pretty legit right?
This year I convinced my roommate and good friend, Kyle Britto

to gets gets hands dirty(literally) and defend our title. For five days, Kyle had no life and wrote the matrix with this video . Honestly, Friedship Surgery was top five of the 16 films shown but for some odd reason, it didn't get awarded in any category. It's a little fishy that the videos that won had some of the judges in part of their videos.
That prize should have been delivered to us without no question. Apparently, the video was to gruesome for a couple of P&%@#@*. Nonetheless, here's the video that should have one......but didn't

Noah and the Whale-Shape of my Heart

It was nice going to the city and meeting up with a very good friend from back home yesterday. It was almost unbelievable getting to see a very close friend from back in da' hood. As we were leaving Amoeba record store, I stumbled upon a Noah and the Whale flyer. Apparently, the band is playing a free show at Amoeba on the second of October(f-yess)!
I simply love the creativity about NATW videos that I had to put this up. Here's Noah and the Wall with "Shape of my Heart".

Gavin Really Wants Me

Since I'm going to attend a comedy/hypnosis show later on tonight, I thought I would post an episode from a comedy web series that you can watch through ifc.com. Moshe Kasher was one of the comedians who came here to Sonoma State last semester and by the end of the night, sent me home with my sides aching from laughter. Here's the Mary Van Note show in

Tokyo Police Club-Graves

So it's no secret that I'm one of the biggest fans of TOKYO POLICE CLUB. These guys have taken over my life for the past two years and counting. They come a long way from baking cupcakes at their first show to getting a record label at Saddle Creek. Some people say they sold out appearing on MTV.It really makes no difference to me, as a fan who bought them food last time I saw them in Pomona, CA . Today, as I was Youtubing, I found their official video for "Graves", which happens to be me favorite song of their current record ELEPHANT SHELL. I heard this song back in 07' through the Daytrotter session TPC did back in February and instantly fell in love with the song. Tokyo Police Club is going to go on tour soon and this will be the first time I will be missing them as their playing The Treasure Island Music Festival in San Fran. which brings the ticket prices to 65$ for one day, and 115$ for both days. As a college student "ballin' on a budget" the money isn't available. But if you're around the area, definitely attend!

Mariposa & Halloween Swim Team

I can't think of a better week to start school again that to have a show here at Sonoma State. First, I have to say that Pack of Wolves wasn't my cup of tea. On the other hand, both, HWT and Mariposa impressed me in different ways.

Mariposa

For my first time actually listening to Mariposa, these guys were great! Seriously, both guys have real music talent. I caught myself spacing out and watching the drummer do his thing. It's just one of those guys who knows what he is doing. His partner, played his guitar like a baby getting his first toy. Nonetheless, I really dug Mariposa's set and you should definitely check these guys out.

Halloween Swim Team

fucking weird!

I was familiar with these guys from back home and it was nice having a little piece of Southern California come up. I got to meet these guys throughout the night and I have to say that their real "down to earth" guys. Their set was a little different than what I was expecting since their drummer was was out due to a wrist injury. Though, with three synthesizers, the trio were able to make a kid have a seizure in the middle of their set(no joke). If you live around the La/IE area, you should really go your way to see a glimpse of the Swim Team.

Feeling Better

The Teenagers will always remind me of car pulling with all my friends while going to work and singing to "Homecoming". I believe this video for "Feeling Better" was a fan-made video but nonetheless, I like the girls in it. The Teenagers must have their pimp hands strong because as you can see, the girls are crazy for the French boys. Maybe if I wear skinny jeans, have funky hair, and make up a British accent, I can run into an American "liddle slot".

Definition Isn't a bad thing

There's nothing wrong to have a little definition when it comes to working out. I signed up for body building this semester once again to try to get some results by winter. So I show up to class at about 10:45 to find the room filled with females ????. I assumed I was a bit early and continued with my stretches I learned from Sketchers(mandatory). Class began at 11 and surprisingly no males showed up. I must have been the weakest link in the room observing the softball girls were all bigger than me. I asked the coach why I was the only male there and to my surprise. I ENROLLED IN A WOMEN'S BODY BUILDING CLASS! >_<

(I got to review the new unreleased Of MOntreal album today and It didn't let me down. You'll get to hear some tracks soon when I begin my radio show)

The MIssion

That's an outline of the epic mission the went through this past Sunday. Hands down, it was the most stressful day of my entire life. Ten hours on bus/train from LA to SF with backpack and suitcase at hand. Not having a cell phone really fucked up my day as a bomb threat messed up all the public transportation in Frisco. (Some idiot decided to walk in the tunnels with suspicion of carrying a bomb). That's only the beginning of the longest day in my lifetime. Stress can really make your body do abnormal things that you would never think of doing. I tried to relax but homeless people smoking crack right next to me didn't not help(no joke). At one point I made a friend with a 35 year old Asian man who didn't speak English. Sign language can come a long way as he directed me to the airport for shelter for the night. I took over 15 buses all together and 7 different barts throughout the whole day! I arrive to airport an hour later and get kicked out within 10 minutes!!!!I continue my journey to Downtown San Francisco to find a nice dark spot to get some shut eye. The first bush I find reeks of two-week old piss and I keep walking as a refugee. I find a 24 hour Denny's and decide to spend the night in a booth. My body really needs some rest at this time but an African American gets in a fight with a complete stranger in the restaurant and slaps a female twice in the face which throws my sleep right out the window! The cops come storming in and after they arrest him, they come question me since I had front row seats to the brawl. I stay alert and awake all night and take the first bus at 6 am to Petaluma to a friend's house were I am staying at now. So many other things happened that I don't even want to mention. In the end, I turned out fine with only bruised ribs from carrying a box and a story I will never forget.....
