Cymbals Eat Guitars-And The Hazy Sea/Some Trees

I know the site has been temporarily slow in posts but that's about to change as the clam team is back on!

Cymbals Eat Guitars
are talented musicians as you can easily notice in this song. Each person plays a key role in this song as every instrument is heard from beginning to end. The guys come from New York and are about to start their tour this Thursday were they will be traveling to Europe. Why There Are Mountains is an an album worthwhile listening to as it caught my attention this summer.

Jens Lekman-The Opposite of Hallelujah

So it's pouring rain in Rohnert Park and I'm soaked clean as my fixie is the only wheels I have. Before I left the house, I was scrolling down to find an artist that fit the climate. Going down the the "J's" I made the choice to put on good old Jens Lekman to play through the rain. I will never forget last Thanksgiving when my friend and I stopped in LA to catch Jens before we went home to our families.

Just came back from making a trip to the Bay Area to figure out my housing situation for next school years' semester. Riding the bus for 8 hours actually gave me some time to review some new music; something I have not been able to do this whole summer. LOST:Ipod and camera usb cord

Unfortunately, I've lost another ipod which brings the count to 4 ipods since high school. For some reason, each time it occurs it hurts even more than the previous loss. This time, it left a nasty scar. In other bad news, can't find the usb cord for my camera which means I can't upload all the pictures I've been snapping or the footage of the St. Vincent show.

Camera Obscura-French Navy

I was a little disappointed with Camera Obscura's new album My Maudlin Career. I only gave it a good listen once, but maybe a few more listens will have the album grow on me enough to catch them in Pomona, CA for summer. Currently, I'm back home for Spring break in Southern California were the weather is perfect. Haven't heard a good song like this in a while an I'm glad to be sharing with the viewers. Enjoy this song because French Navy has been on constant repeat.

Eastbound and Down 2010

I think my biggest find this year so far would have to be the HBO tv show series called EastBound and Down. I've mentioned it before on the site so I won't go into detail about the plot. Turns out I'm going to have to wait till next year for the second season to begin. I have to confess, Kenny Powers topped the Office in my opinion. Here's Mr. Powers with a training video he and his assistant Stevie mad for uses in one of the episodes.

The Specials-A Message to You Rudy

Boy, does this song take me back to my ska days. I even remember how thrilled I was when I received a Specials t-shirt for Christmas about four or five years ago. Going way back to high school, the genre of Ska had a HUGE scene in my hometown and high-school. Every single weekend there would have to be some kind of backyard show were local ska bands would play and skank pits would form. Too bad it's still Wednesday or this would have had to be my Throwback for Thursday.

Still remember the day I came home from High-School and found my dawg Pancake wrapped in a towel in the kitchen as a baby. Too young to even feed himself, we nursed him with a baby bottle pop filled with milk. Today he would be getting a new outfit as my mom buys him clothes every year for his bday. Unfortunately and sadly to say, after talking to my mom last night, I was informed that pancake has been missing for the past 9 days. I don't think I'll ever get to see him again which brings me down today, but at least everyone got know him as the street patrol of Fremontia ave in Fontana Ca. Year One

I recently saw Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist and boy, was I disappointed! I usually like cheesy movies about relationships and such but Nick and Nora simply didn't do it for me. Bishop Allen makes a surprise appearance which was pretty cool BUT!, overall I thought the movie was lame. Hopefully Michael Cera does a better job playing the same character he always plays in this. Jack Black is in it so it should be worth watching.

Wavves

The video basically explains how the band became one so I'm not going into full detail. Wavves is another two piece band that I can compare to with No Age. Lead singer Nate Williams has a "girlish" voice that makes the band's sound, sound so unique. If you like the sounds of Wavves(pun) and want to hear a little more about the band you can head over to TheFader.com for a deep interview about their lives in San Diego and how they get bored, smoke the devil's lettuce, and hang out with friends like any other person. Good enough for me.

Ima Robot's self titled album way back in the day blew me away. I thought the album was so good that I bought their second album Monument to the Masses the day it came out.Ima Robot is one of those bands that was extremely popular in my high-school. A very popular band to skaters as the band was used in famous skateboarding videos. Almost every skater had pin you see to the right
pinned to their shirt. The song and video for "Lovers in Captivity" is awesome and should definitely watch after reading this post. Ima Robot are coming back with a new disc called Search and Destroy that will be available soon. The Girl With Violent Arms

Do you like the LA band Health? Do you like the funky beats from Dan Deacon? If you answered yes to both those questions then you'll definitely like The Girl With Violent Arms. A solo project that consists of a 23 year old cancer researcher that likes to tap pedals, twist knobs, and make NOISE! Coming from the Inland Empire out of Colton, TGWVA ended up traveling to Northern California to work on his second album called "The Sun Will Swallow Me Whole" that will be released soon on the LA record label How To Be A Microwave. I got the chance to see the "the girl" play about a week ago aaaaand I liked what I heard. The set was short, but entertaining, as I watched songs get created before my eyes. Literraly, the guy would plug a microphone, make a crazy noise, record that shit, unplug the mic, and replug his base and start jamming. I highly recommend to log on to the space and check out the song---> Central Nervous System

I haven't seen this show yet but plan to do so soon.
The plot for this television show is about a professional baseball player named Kenny Powers(Danny Mcbride) who lost everything and has moved in with his brother's family. You'll recognize the main character if you've seen the movies Pineapple Express or the Heartbreak Kid. So far, I've only this clip which has been enough for me to follow this new T.V. show on HBO.

One for the Team-Best Supporting Actor

Hello everyone!
I've been asked by a couple of people were I have been and why I haven't been posting. Trying to get into a routine for a new semester at school can take up most of your time. It's good that my partner can take over while I'm busy and inform you on what's going in the Hip-Hop culture. Please take your time and watch the videos he posts because I myself, is also been more open minded to Hip-Hop and have found some great stuff thanks to him. I've been reviewing a lot of new music that I will post later on when I'm not busy but right now take your time to listen to a Minneapolis band called
